JEFF MARTIN
Jeff’s passion for music was evident from an early age. His interest in DJing was sparked during the mid-seventies when his brother, in collaboration with a friend, performed at local clubs and pubs. In the eighties, Jeff cultivated a deep appreciation for independent music, stemming from his dissatisfaction with the repetitive nature of mainstream top-ten hits. He began seeking alternative sounds and recognized that many like-minded individuals shared his desire for something different. This realization led to the inception of the A&R Show, designed to showcase album tracks and rarities that are seldom heard on mainstream radio. After years of being an enthusiastic listener of an online radio station, Jeff approached the station’s owner with the idea of producing a one-off special. The show was met with positive feedback, culminating in an invitation for him to host a weekly program. From there, his journey as a presenter took off. Today, Jeff hosts programs for multiple stations across the UK, the United States, and Europe. He takes great satisfaction in the creative process of curating and recording his shows, which require thoughtful consideration of both track selection and sequencing. Beyond his on-air commitments, Jeff has a keen interest in theatre, engaging both on-stage and behind the scenes. Additionally, he enjoys attending performances by local bands, further immersing himself in the music scene.
GILL HARDIKER
Hi I'm Gill Hardiker and I present the Retro Hits and Headlines Show. I have always loved music and can't imagine my life without it. I came late to the radio party having spent 32 years as a primary school teacher in the UK and only discovered radio presenting when I retired. I started in hospital radio and then became a Breakfast Show host on my local community radio station. Now I produce radio shows in my home studio which I set up during lockdown. This also allows me to produce audio for various charities for the visually impaired including Talking Newspapers, podcasts and any other audio required.
My first love was 70s rock music - Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie etc and I spent all my Saturday job money on vinyl and concert tickets. I also had a love of folk music. Now I enjoy most genres of music, rock of course, but also Soul, Dance and especially anything with a heavy beat or screaming guitar!
The Retro Hits and Headlines Show looks at a specific month and year through the music in the UK Official Singles Chart and the events that took place. There is also The Quiz which has questions linked to something in the show to get you thinking whilst you are listening.

Alan Wilkinson, affectionately referred to as "Big Al," is a seasoned radio broadcaster with extensive experience in sports commentary and community radio. Alan has provided full-match commentary for Chesterfield FC on Peak FM and has also contributed his expertise to Spire Radio in Chesterfield. He is currently an integral part of Elastic FM, a local community radio station. Having grown up during the unparalleled musical eras of the 1960s and 1970s, Alan possesses a deep appreciation for iconic bands such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and Free. While classic rock remains his primary focus, his passion extends to a wide range of musical genres. I’m Davy Sims. I have more than 40 years broadcasting experience in radio, web, and TV. The bulk of my career was in BBC, but I have also worked in independent radio, community radio, on the Broadcasting Authority for Ireland’s Sound and Vision panel awarding grants to radio broadcasters. Around the World won the Bronze Award for Specialist Music Programme in UK’s Community Radio Awards in 2021. Some people have been declared as the voice of radio and certainly are part of the heart of music and both have been said of EMMA SCOTT. Radio presenter, radio plugger, a staunch supporter of independent music and plenty more besides, Emma has worked in the music industry for 38 years, stepping into its demanding but rewarding embrace from the moment she left school when she straight away entered “the dizzy heights” of a Youth Training Scheme at her local radio station in Bedford back in 1988.
From thereon in she grew to become a focal point for established and new sounds and artists, from 1990 to 2013 radio presenting with her individual style and passion and subsequently gathering thousands of radio shows under her belt across some of the UK finest radio stations including Q RADIO, HEART, POWER FM, GALAXY RADIO, HALLAM FM, and METRO FM as well as the two biggest commercial radio brands in the UK, GLOBAL RADIO and BAUER RADIO. Becoming one of the top 20 Drive Time presenters in the UK whilst at rock and metal station, KERRANG! RADIO, Emma was also approached by BBC RADIO 1 the late 90’s to join their presentation team, twice in fact, but sadly her “nerves got the better of her at her auditions and it wasn’t meant to be!”
2013 saw Emma take a bold move by stepping away from full-time presenting and setting up her own radio plugging and PR Company, PLUGGIN BABY LTD. Again, she quickly put her individual stamp on the venture and has worked with hundreds of independent bands and artists, sharing and promoting their music across Britain’s radio stations and shows and in time the vast realm of internet radio too. More than that though, she also had the energy and passion to set out to help the business grow in other areas, especially in regard to its independent scene and artists.
Pre that venture though, Emma also presented live music TV shows, hosted live gigs and events, been a voice over artist, blogger, band manager, co-ran a record label and put on live music events in Birmingham from 2006 to 2013, all experiences she took into PLUGGIN’ BABY and her wish, indeed need to help aspiring artists and bands. This aspect has seen Emma write two books, Break Your Band: A Guide to Getting Radio Airplay (2009) and If It Was My Band (First edition 2012, with an updated release in 2022 as a downloadable eBook.)
Never one to rest on her laurels, Emma recently undertook a Music Entrepreneur Master’s Degree, which she passed with a distinction. Her dissertation centered around teaching independent musicians how to get their own radio airplay which has led her to create YouTube videos, podcasts and to run free online webinars entitled “How to Get Radio Airplay”, all set up for artists to access as part of a radio plugging consultancy service teaching musicians how to become their own radio pluggers.
After a seven-year break, she also returned to radio presenting, firstly with PRIMORDIAL RADIO in 2020, and now with her own brand-new syndicated Pluggin Baby Radio Show, which currently airs on over 140 radio stations. In February 2026, Emma launched a new syndicated show, the Awesome Mix Radio Show, which also airs all over the world
Emma also runs her Pluggin Baby Radio Show YouTube channel, Mixcloud profile, and her “Inside the Music Industry” Facebook group where she shares helpful tips and insider information to help musicians better navigate the music industry and climb its ladder.
Whether in voice, deed or energy, EMMA SCOTT has music rushing through her veins; a passion reaping massive highlights in her career to date such as three Promoter of the Year awards at the Pure Rawk Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and being declared the “Best Local Promoter” at the Live Music Business Awards in 2012. Listening to and playing music has always been a large part of my life.
I bought my first vinyl in 1974 aged 7, by 1983 I was immersed in the UK scooter scene and began attending the rallies which boasted ex-Wigan Casino DJs on their all-nighter line-up.
There was so much music that I hadn’t heard before and of course, as there was a record bar in each venue, my record collection increased although never as much as my wants list.
I really get a kick out of sharing my passion for music and have enjoyed playing my 70s soul, funk and disco records to the world ever since.

John started his technical career at the age of 16 when he trained as a cinema projectionist at Auckland's St James Theatre. Through that period and the following 18 years in the industry he learned about electronics and sound engineering. He also had a part-time business DJing at various functions such as weddings, celebrations and dance parties. In 2013 he established Sleep Radio, a station that plays sleeping music to help insomniacs get to sleep. Then in 2021 he also established Radio Te Aroha, a small community FM station in Te Aroha, New Zealand where New Music Aotearoa is recorded. In 2023, John saw a huge anomaly in that new, New Zealand artists got very little, if any, airplay on mainstream radio stations - hence New Music Aotearoa
MATT CRAIG

by Matt Craig, with how he thinks the station would sound if it was still around today.

Technology in Old Westbury, NY. While still in school, he got an internship,
and later paid shifts at WGLI-AM 1290 in Babylon, NY where he stayed for 3
years. Shortly after graduation, Matt did some fill-ins at WNYG-AM 1400 also
in Babylon, NY, where he was later offered the morning drive shift.Fast forward to 2004, and Matt was given the opportunity to be the regular
fill-in host on WEBE-FM 108 in Bridgeport, CT on their Saturday night disco
show, Studio 108. He did that for over a year, and then was offered the show
on a permanent basis. Unfortunately, due to time and distance, he had to
turn it down.Matt worked as a retail sales associate and manager until his retirement in
2021. His hobbies include HO Slot Cars, and his passion for radio airchecks is

Lockdown brought a lot of sad times, but also brought a lot of us all closer toīgether. Many moons ago when I was a lot younger I used to work with a man that did mobile disco's. So as you do when you are young, I popped along and was hooked straight away. So I jumped onto the bandwagon and got involved hands on, how all the gear worked etc etc
Did that for many years then got into the pub and club circuit. However after getting married the years slipped by I did not carry on with this hobby for many years. Then we had LOCKDOWN so I started doing sets online, instagram & facebook etc which rekindled my passion. I then got in touch with my old boss who runs a local community radio station. After a few beers I sweet talked him into a regular show.
Then came along another station - Where I now do a regular Thursday night show "That & 80's & 90's Show". So as you can guess things have taken off very well so I have put together "That 90's & 00's Show" now broadcasting on numerous radio stations around the world.

Since 2013, Rick Haggerty has hosted "Kickin' It," which airs weekly on 4 continents, which is a musically significant and fun weekly 2-hour show featuring a weekly journey of a new music discovery, with a stellar sampling of new song releases from a variety of genres, along with insightful commentary! I started the Orange Blossom Special show January 2021. I wanted to have a show where both mainstream and independent artists shared the same spotlight, and so remove the divide. I love upbeat driving country music, so that was the initial idea of what music the show would play. The idea of the train taking a journey through upbeat country sprang to mind, and so became the strap line for the show.
Initially, I only played upbeat country, but I love bluegrass music and western swing, and so decided why not drop a couple of each style of music into the shows each week. Following the train journey theme, this became stopping for a grass party and taking a swing break (that was a play on the American term ‘spring break’). I also liked the idea of highlighting an artist by playing 2 in a row from the artists, and so in came the double shot. A more recent addition to the show is the ‘Take Cover’ element, where I play an old song that has been reinvented by a different country artist, or a pop song that has been covered by a country artist. I love the music I choose for the show as a whole.
One feature that I am particularly pleased with is how I have situated the show actually on the train. You have the tannoid messages alerting you to the trains departure and reaching its destination, and when we have upcoming stops, and when I speak, you can hear the sound of the train in the background.
In 2023, I won the Fair play Red Carpet Country Music Award for ‘Best Female Radio Presenter’, for the Orange Blossom Special show.
The Orange Blossom Special is my baby, its 2 hours of upbeat country music from yesterday to today, from mainstream and independent artists, and I am very proud of it.
